About us

Esri Ireland is a software and services organisation, specialising in the application of geographic information systems, or “GIS”. Our business is built on the belief that knowing where things happen matters.   As Esri's official point of presence in Ireland and Northern Ireland since 2002, we have partnered with both the public and private sector to help them understand the impact of Location, Place & Geography on their business.

We help customers record where things happen and analyse why, to give business insight on which to make better decisions. It's what we call #TheScienceofWhere. Ranked as number 1 Best Workplace in Ireland 2020 & 2021 and as a Best Workplace every year since 2016, Esri Ireland is part of the Esri Global Network, a billion-dollar privately held software company with nearly 10,000 employees worldwide.

We aim for a culture of trust that is built on listening and achieved through open and honest conversations within and across all levels and all roles in the business. We firmly believe having a compass that is guided trust and the activities we engage in to support our Best Workplace ethos is key to our success as a business. This ‘listening’ approach helps us build trust, embrace belonging and do right by each other, which in turn helps us ensure that we live our values, not just profess them.

What employees say

Over the past two years employees across the globe have been re-assessing what is important to them when it comes to selecting a job.

Personally, I have identified that; I want my work to challenge me, I want my work to matter, and I want to feel that my contribution is valued.

In short, I have confirmed that Esri Ireland is exactly where I want to be.

On a daily basis my colleagues and I get to work with passionate and dedicated customers, who are experts in their field, as we work together to leverage the power of location to gain new insight and understanding within their disciplines…and I, for one, absolutely love it!

What defines us

Esri Ireland is a listening organisation. The results from our Trust Survey are available for everyone in our team to read, fostering a spirit of transparency. We established a Great Place to Work Team and 9 Practice Champions to drive our internal culture. Based on direct feedback to the team we have established a number of initiatives from Thank You Days, to Salary Surveys, Virtual Celebrations and Career Development Programmes.

From a social value perspective, and since 2019, we are proud to be a certified Carbon Plus organisation by continuously working on ways to not only offset but also to reduce our carbon footprint. For example, through a partnership with Irish Tech Goes Carbon Neutral we continue to offset our carbon footprint in full and thus far have contributed to the planting of 53,000 native deciduous trees in County Roscommon – trees that will never be uprooted. This supports one of our business growth aspirations “Live Green & Give Back."

Word from the top

This is Esri Ireland’s seventh consecutive year to be named as a top Irish workplace, which is assessed through Great Place to Work’s ‘Trust Index©’ employee survey and a thorough ‘Culture Audit©’ assessment of our policies and practices. Beyond our ranking though, what really matters to us more than anything else, is how the Best Workplaces framework is now firmly embedded in our culture, hearts & minds and in how we will grow our business over the next five years and beyond. We make a conscious effort to celebrate those achievements & to recognise the contribution of our whole team, in making those achievements a reality for everyone.

We prioritise changes that have had the biggest impact from both a business perspective and from a people & wellbeing perspective.

Career and jobs

Application tips

Our core philosophy when it comes to hiring people is one that weighs more on ‘fit’ than on ‘form’. Given our market leading position, our organisational culture & climate and our strongly held belief in the value of geographic information, it is critically important that we hire people who have a natural fit with all three of these themes.

In this way we hire people to have a career with us and not just to fulfill an immediate need. Regardless of whether a role is actively advertised, if the right person with the right aptitude is available, we’ll work to find them a suitable position in our organisation.

We invest a great deal of time in our recruitment process to ensure that new hires fit with our values and culture. We filter everything we see and hear from prospective candidates throughout the interview process, through our core values of:

  • Honesty and Integrity
  • Knowledge and Expertise
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Work-life balance
Our great workplace

At Esri Ireland we pride ourselves on being a diverse, high trust organisation and our team of 79 are represented by 20 different countries. We’ve won two Special Achievement Awards from Great Place to Work Ireland: one Speaking Practice Award in 2018 and more recently, we won the Great Place to Work Best Team Award.

We have a fundamental belief in the fact that it is people that drive business, encapsulated in a people development strategy, as opposed to a people management process. One of our values is Knowledge & Expertise. We continuously invest in and support the development of our team and are committed to keeping their skills up-to-date and improving these as necessary. In our view, developing people is not just about technical skills and expertise but just as importantly it is also about developing the softer skills associated with behaviour, attitude and competency.
