Nano Nagle Place is an unexpected oasis in the heart of Cork City that celebrates an iconic Irish woman who defied the penal laws and secretly opened schools to educate Cork’s poorest children. This is the story of a heroic, forward-thinking, entrepreneurial woman who defied the constraints of 18th-century society to improve the plight of children, first in Cork, then Ireland and eventually around the world. This work was continued by the Order of Nuns founded by Nano Nagle, the Presentation Sisters who continue to reside in Nano Nagle Place making it a vibrant site of living heritage.
